At Stivers Ford, it is our mission to connect montgomery drivers with a vehicle that perfectly suits their needs. When people say they want a full-size SUV that has some of the same functionality of a pickup, we show them Ford’s Expedition.
Available in three models (XLT, Limited, Platinum), the newest Expedition has undergone some big changes. With an aluminum body, new frame, and extended wheelbase, this SUV is both lighter and roomier than ever before. Now able to seat eight, this is the go-to vehicle if you are constantly driving around with more than just one passenger. Cargo volume varies depending on seating; with both the second and third row of seats folded flat, you will get an impressive 104.6 cubic feet of space. Folding down only the third row provides you with 63.6 cubic feet, and with all rows of seats upright you will have 20.9 cubic feet of cargo volume. The Expedition comes with a cargo management system which can give you additional storage space via shelves above and storage cubbies below. If desired, you can select an available seating configuration that allows you to seat seven with the second row having two bucket seats.
The new Expedition exterior gives it an all-business attitude. Strong lines form a rugged silhouette, which you can further enhance by choosing from 10 paint options (some are model dependent) and 22-inch polished aluminum wheels. The interior is roomy and gives the appearance of being even more so because Ford has added a panorama moonroof, located above the first two rows of seating. There are six USB ports, a 100-volt outlet, and four 12-volt outlets, which means that no matter where someone is sitting in the vehicle, they will be able to charge their device. Those sitting in the second row can also enjoy the screens mounted on the front seat headrests. An 8-inch color LCD touchscreen is standard on the Limited and Platinum models and is an available option on the XLT. The touchscreen gives you access to the AppLink, 911 Assist, and SYNC 3 features.
Carried over from older Expedition models is the 3.5 liter (L) turbocharged EcoBoost V6 (now paired to a new 10-speed automatic transmission) which gives it more than enough get up and go for towing. Equipping it with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package means that you will be able to haul up to 9,200 pounds (lbs). The Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC), aligns the trailer and vehicle brakes so that braking is always smooth, even if you are towing something. Trailer Sway Control, which works along with the AdvanceTrac feature, detects when your trailer is swaying and either lowers engine torque or utilizes precise braking in order to let you regain control of both your trailer and your vehicle.
Ford has ensured that its new Expedition is outfitted with the best in safety technology. The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) detects when something enters your blind spot and notifies you. The ControlTrac 4-wheel (4WD) feature operates by giving the driver four different modes to choose from, which means that no matter what terrain in Montgomery AL you are traversing, you will be able to maintain ideal traction. Parking is made much easier and safer by the Enhanced Active Park Assist System, which utilizes side park sensors to make sure there’s no risk of colliding with anyone or anything while getting into position to park. The Belt-Minder feature will remind both driver and passengers to fasten their seatbelts via a chime sounding every six seconds. One of the most innovative of Ford’s safety features is MyKey, which lets you program different keys for your vehicles with different safety modes, such as restricting speed in order to enforce safe driving practices.
The newest Ford Expedition has a lot to live up to, and fortunately, it delivers. For anyone looking for a spacious yet tough vehicle to use for work, leisure, or adventure, this SUV is what you are looking for.
