The Raptor name has been synonymous with performance off-road pickups for a long time and so much so that Ram actually named its competitor with a nod to the iconic nameplate: TRX. But Ford has decided to expand the use of the Raptor name, and they couldn’t have chosen a better model to do it with than the sixth-generation Bronco, which is a true sports utility vehicle that’s giving the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited a run for its money. Car and Driver was among the first to test the new Bronco Raptor and rated it 10 out of 10 while selecting it as an Editors’ Choice and adding it to its 10Best list.
The Raptor is based on the Badlands trim with the Sasquatch and High packages included. The Badlands provides all the creature comforts and technologies of the Big Bend and all the off-road enhancements of the Black Diamond. The Sasquatch package lifts the suspension and adds beadlock-capable wheels. The High package, which includes the Mid package, adds even more tech and amenities. The Raptor engine is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that makes 418 hp and 440 lb.-ft of torque.
